Many prominent New Orleans citizens were buried in Cypress Grove. One of the more well known was Maunsel White, immortalized among epicures for his creation, Maunsel White Peppersauce. The merchant and veteran of the Battle of New Orleans lies entombed in a fine marble memorial designed in the Greek Revival style, again by de Pouilly.
